Did you know?

Plaque and food stick to dentures and oral appliances just as they do to natural teeth.  If not cleaned properly, tartar and stains can build-up.  Cleaning your oral appliance well will also ensure proper fit thereof and will prolong its life expectancy.

Cleaning tips

  • Don’t use toothpaste to clean your oral appliances, it can cause micro scratches in the material and result in toothpaste build-up & staining.
  • DO USE DISH WASHING LIQUID FOR CLEANING OF YOUR ORAL APPLIANCES
  • Soap on your toothbrush can taste unpleasant
  • DO GET A BRUSH JUST FOR YOUR ORAL APPLIANCE
  • DO PUT A TOWEL IN THE BASIN WHEN CLEANING YOUR ORAL APPLIANCE AS DROPPING IT ON A HARD SURFACE CAN REASULT IN BREAKAGE
  • Don’t wear your dentures 24 hours a day
  • DO LEAVE YOUR DENTURES OUT AT NIGHT SO THAT CLEANSING FUNCTION OF SALIVA CAN DO ITS JOB
  • Don’t use bleach to clean your appliance & don’t boil it
  • Do clean your oral appliance directly after removing it from your mouth and leave to rest in water in its case.
  • Don’t leave your oral appliance lying around as pets love them. If not in your mouth, it belongs in a case.

Treating your oral appliance with care will help you get the most out of it!
